Track 2

Vegetables

Posted on Posted in When daylight Arrives

Every time I turn around another bill lies on the mat
There isn’t any money left to fill the car or feed the cat
I know I should be miserable,I don’t know why I’m not
Maybe it’s because I’m grateful for the things I’ve got

And I say
“We’re living on vegetables
Fresh air and vegetables
We’re living on vegetables
And it doesn’t even cross my mind
That we could have a better life
Cos all I need is you ,fresh air and vegetables”

Your best friend’s won the lottery and bought herself a fancy car
She’s had Botox, fixed her teeth and booked a trip to Zanzibar
She asks you if your jealous, you admit you’re a little green
Then your sweetheart smiles and you know you’re the cat who’s got the cream

and he says
“We’re living on vegetables
Fresh air and vegetables
We’re living on vegetables and it doesn’t even cross my mind
That we could have a better life
Cos all I need is you, fresh air and vegetables”

Let’s dig the garden over, let’s plant some seeds
And come the harvest we’ll have everything we need
We’re living on vegetables.

So Mr Tax- Man help yourself to all the money I have left
You can have the 50 quid I made last week for baking bread
I’m not being cynical,I’m happy with my lot
But it would be so nice to afford to holiday somewhere hot!

’Till then we’ll be living on vegetables
A little bit of soup
The occasional bottle of Pouilly Fume
Fresh air and vegetables
