The Pet has a pet!
First can I say the "pet pic" has been discovered and is available to anyone who wants to see it.I won't be publishing it myself cos it looks weird to me! I mean,I don't think I look very sexy!I look too innocent! If you really want to see it then of course i will e-mail it to you but I'm in no rush!
What i wanted to tell you is that I have a new pet of my own!
Go back a few years and picture this.Myself and my friend Sarah Pay in a Landrover on our way to the south of France to collect two dogs.Sarah was bringing in 2 dachsunds to breed a litter andI was to have a puppy. At the last moment she decided that she had too much on her plate and asked if I would have one of the dogs instead. So we set off to Toulouse to collect them with our children in the backof the car(one of mine 4 of hers!)
We navigated round Paris no problem and spent a fun couple of days while the paperwork was prepared.I became the proud owner of the most beautiful dachsund I'd ever seen.We called him "Murphy" cos my daughters wanted to be the "sisters of Murphy".Sadly my dog had something wrong with him and I had to have him put to sleep. It was an awful day for me and I missed him terribly.I think it rated in my top five worst days of my life.
Sarah moved to Leicester and when I visited her I always made a fuss of her little dachsund,Finnalie.Last weekend I played a gig at "The Musician" in Leicester( and hello to anyone who was there).Sarah very kindly put me up for the night and while I was there she expained that she was selling her farmhouse and getting rid of her animals. She asked me if I would like to take Finnalie home with me! so here she is and lying at my feet as I write this. It's like re-creating a part of my past and I couldn't be happier.
love to you all

Fantastic!
Murphy was such a lovely little dog, even if he did bark at me every time I came round! And I know how much you loved him. It was a sad day...
I'm so happy for you.
ps fancy doing a gig in Larnaca sometime?
Claire. I was trying to track down the issue the picture was in but not knowing the month/issue number I had no luck. Oh well glad you found it so I can stop.
Read your tale about your dog. I am more of a cat person myself, but having to have a beloved pet put-down is heartbreaking. So much so that I vowed never to have any more pets. However, friends of mine split up and neither could provide homes for their two cats so I found myself with two new companions. One is a black & White cat, born on St Patrick's day - his name is Murphy.
The picture is AWESOME!
Of course, you look better NOW than then, but, as a capture of the younger days, it's great to have.
Thanks to the fan who kept that issue - I was having fits trying to deal with used-magazine dealer-thiefs who wanted about $100 to look thru 12 issues of that year to tell me what issue it was in so I could order it. I'm not exaggerating - ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for about one minute's work of looking at a table of contents.
Oliver Cromwell would have made short work of these folks!
By the way, dachsunds rule! Congrats.
Hey Claire - you're on YouTube. There is clip from the Art of Landscape with Penguins and half of Living Proof with you and Wishbone Ash.
How's the doggy?
hi claire
one of the first albums i remember owning was 'stage door johnnies' though i have no idea how it ended up in my collection! but i was moved to google you after hearing your contribution to steve howe's 'look over your shoulder', and here i am. what a voice you have. off to check the rest of your discography...
p.s. if you ever need a double bass player, i'm cheap!
hello everyone thanks for dropping by and leaving me a message.
I would love to play Larnaca martin, need you ask! I need to meet all the crazy people you've been writing about in your blog "letter from larnaca"(I recommend it to everyone, very funny!)
I must admit that Finalie is a definite improvement on murphy in as much as she doesn't bite anyone but she does like to barK at all the big dogs so i just have to pick her up..all 7'5 lbs of her! Issy says I'm spoiling her and she's getting to be a bit more domineering so I must watch out for that.Dogs are weird aren't they?
I'm glad you liked the picture of me all those years ago.I wasn't sure what my girls were gonna say but my youngest was sweet .She said" mum you never cease to amaze me,none of my friend's mothers have been in penthouse like you!" ha ha cute!
I checked out the Wishbone Ash clip just the other day.I'm going to try and capture it for my myspace site..... oh there's so much to do.
Peter you could always e-mail me your number for my files. You can never have too many musician's phone numbers!!
love Clairexxxxx
Claire, Just to let you know the full clip of Living Proof is up on YouTube.
Hi Claire,
Just seen the offer of e-mailing the Penthouse Pet pic. I published several of you in the Hartlepool Mail over the years. I'd be interested to see the one in Penthouse. I'm not really a dirty old man, just curious. All the best for you and family.
