Penthouse Pet !

I thought that would catch your eye! Hi how are you? thanks for dropping by to catch up with this absentee blogger. I've recently been in touch with an old fan who remembers an interview I did years ago with Penthouse. It was in the days when my modest fame was starting to wane, around the release of Abracadabra. Those were pretty dark days in the UK, all three day week madness.
The only press I could get at the time was an interview with Penthouse.I duly did the photo session and word came back from the magazine that they weren't going to run the piece because the pictures were too modest! Yes, this is the music business remember! So I was despatched back to a house near the Kings road to take some more raunchy pictures. This time the photographer started egging me on and the result is a little more risque(half a nipple!) but I can assure you very tame by today's standards!
Well, the furore! I believe someone was sacked at the record company, though I didn't find that out until much later. Understandably I was very upset at the time (I always took myself so seriously!) but not any more! I'd give anything to see that picture again.Does anyone out there have a copy?

Claire, good to see you back at the blog.

Your story reminds me of a similar tale told by Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) when taking photos for the cover of the Buckingham/Nicks album.

There are places that sell old magazines but without knowing the exact month and year (I assume 1975) it will be hard to track down. With the added complication that Penthouse produced a British and American edition. So it would probably be the British edition. Unless there is someone out there with a stash of Brtish 70s soft porn mags, I can't help.

Hi Jeff It's good to know I'm in good company!!Yes isn't it funny? a fan asked me about the picture and I said I lost it many years ago.He has offered to try and track it down through a company that sells back issues. We narrowed down the date ,1975, but I can't remember which edition I'm in and when you call the company they charge exhorbitant fees to keep you on the phone. So I offered to put the word out.Sadly, new girlfriends usually throw out the old porn mags...to make way for the new stuff of course!! ha ha

Where can i buy the song (someday we'll all be together)?? I tried to buy this when it was released in 1989. I didn't know who sang it at the time, and i heard it on the Steve Wright show on the radio, but he didnt say what it was called or who sang it. I thought the song was called house of love, and asked in record shops for this at the time when it was out - but no joy obviously. It must have been around December time 1989, i remember it was cold out. A lot of time has gone since then, and i have found out since that the classical version of the song was canon pachelbel, which i already knew the tune before Claire's version came out, but didnt know what it was called. After typing Canon Pachelbel in google and adding 1989 single, i get Claire Hamill - quest completed!! Can i buy the song now please? I've never forgotton about the song as at the time i was rather depressed and i related to the song.

Hi Claire

I have always thought of you as a very sexy and sassy lady as well as a talented singer and songwriter and so the Penthouse story is of no surprise to me - perhaps I used to fantasise over you as a love struck teenager back in the 1970's?!!

I am, of course, now much older but not necessarily much wiser.

I have been a fan of WA since 1972 and saw you play with the guys in the Laurie Wisefield era. More recently I have seen you support them in Oxford (Zodiac Club) and join them at the 30th anniversary gig at Shepherds Bush.

I am a singer songwriter myself (although I haven't given up my day job) and have included Take My Breathe Away in my live set list for some time - beautiful.

Hastings is another connection - my grandparents lived in St Leonards on Sea when I was a kid and so many happy days spent on the beach, White Rock, Fairlight Glen, the castle and smugglers caves etc.

Anyway - just thought I'd say Hi and keep music live!

Mike
